The flood gates at High Stanners in Morpeth have been closed again this evening as the level of the River Wansbeck rises.
The Environment Agency has confirmed via Twitter that this action has been taken.
Having closed them at 3am this morning, they were re-opened just after 11am when the river level went down.
There are large and deep puddles of water in low lying areas and warnings have been issued for specific areas, such as next to the Riverside Leisure Centre and East Mill, where there were reports earlier today of outbuildings flooding.
The organisation will closely monitor the situation overnight and take further action if required.
