Members of Morpeth Flower Club have turned their attention to fund-raising.

At the September meeting of the club, Chairman Vivien Bennett presented a cheque for £250 to the MS Research and Relief Fund.

The donation was collected by Daniel Nelson, of Benmar House, the charity’s Morpeth base.

The centre aims to improve the quality of life of all people affected by multiple sclerosis (MS), a chronic disease of the central nervous system that affects more than 100,000 people in the UK and is the most common disabling condition in young people.

The charity offers relief to sufferers, their carers and families, providing a range of services at centres and outreach groups across the North East.

It provides complementary therapies and exercise sessions, grants for aids and adaptations or respite care, advice and information, and supports research into MS and its treatments.

It is totally dependent on charitable donations to support its work.
