At the end of July the school holidays are upon us.
This is a time of enjoyment for many, but for those families in Morpeth with children who receive free school meals, it is a time of anguish — six weeks or so where they have to provide extra food for their children, but receive no extra money to do so.
Could I request of Herald readers that they do their best to increase donations to the Wansbeck Food Bank during this period to enable it to meet the needs of local families.
The food bank operates from the New Life Christian Centre in Dacre Street, Morpeth.
Thank you in anticipation.
