More than £3,300 was distributed to 25 organisations by Morpeth Lions Club.

They had taken part in Morpeth Lions’ Dickens of a Draw.

President Ian Brown said: “We are very pleased to organise the Dickens of a Draw, which enables local charities and clubs to raise much-needed funds for themselves.

“It is an excellent opportunity for those looking to fund-raise, with the Lions arranging the prizes and 10,000 books of tickets. This way local organisations can sell tickets without worrying about the administration, and by joining together bigger prizes are on offer.

“I would like to thank those who kindly donated prizes.”

The Lions are preparing for their next charity event, a Casino Night at the Riverside Lodge, Morpeth, on Saturday, March 5. Tickets cost £15, including a supper and draw, on 01670 513169.

The club meets at Morpeth Conservative Club on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month.
