Monte Carlo came to Morpeth again when the Lions Club of Morpeth welcomed more than 70 guests to its sixth Charity Casino Night, which this year was held in the Masonic Hall.

The event raised more than £600 that will help the club meet local needs.

As well as getting ‘funny money’ to gamble with, the £15 entry charge included a draw and pie and pea supper. The evening finished with a blind auction.

Morpeth Lion President Margaret Trewick said: “Following last year’s success the club is indebted to the Masonic Hall for agreeing to host the event and to Sunderland Lions Club who provided expertise and equipment.

“In addition, our thanks go to the many local businesses who provided raffle and blind auction prizes.

“Our aim to provide a fun evening must have worked as many guests said they looked forward to it happening next year. Importantly, we raised a wonderful sum to help us in our community service.”
