Another quacking good show is coming to Ponteland on Sunday afternoon.
Ponteland Rotary Club’s annual Duck Race takes place in Ponteland Park and proceeds from the event go to local and international charities.
As well as the 500 ducks competing in five races, other attractions will include a bouncy slide, archery, a tombola, face painting, candy floss, a coconut shy, ball in a bucket and a special teddy bear stand.
Following last year’s success, the programme will again include five to 11-year-olds making their own boats to race on the River Pont and the summer market will again be a feature, with the Diamond Inn supplying hot food.
Community support for the event comes from the Scouts, Girl Guides, Young Farmers and the high school, as well as Ponteland Town Council, Waitrose and many local businesses.
The range of prizes to be won include meal vouchers and cash.
