For there in the water, enjoying a soak after his long journey from London yesterday (Thursday), is a giant.

This man of epic proportions is the first installation of a new Giant Adventure trail at The Alnwick Garden.

Officially opening on June 28, it will be the first new themed trail in The Garden in three years.

The installations all centre on two lovable friendly giants who have decided to make The Alnwick Garden their home.

As described on the Garden website: 'The ground shivered and the trees quivered as a rumbling could be heard throughout The Garden. A giant belly laugh roared as the two new residents looked over the tiny world they had stumbled upon. Trees no higher than their knees, miniscule flowers, puddles of water and crowds of small humans running about having fun and laughing together. They looked around and decided that this would be a great new home for them both. They are big, bold and rather messy!'

The arrival of the bathing man-mountain marks the first part of the venue's 'biggest summer yet', with street theatre, giants and the launch of a new app.
