Good win for Morpeth, but loss for Ponteland

Morpeth 1sts enjoyed a good eight-wicket home win over Bates Cottages 1sts in the Northumberland & Tyneside Cricket League at the weekend.

Martin Golightly hit 65 for Bates who were 163-8 at the end of their innings, with James Craigs and Callum Lawn both claiming three wickets.

Morpeth needed just 29 overs to chase down the total and their 164-2 came with openers Paul Johnston and James Sander putting on 90 for the first wicket before Johnston went for 61. Sander went on to make 53.

Ponteland 1sts lost by three wickets away to Seaton Burn 1sts.

Jonathan Appleby top-scored with 30 as Pont put on 91 all out with Chris Weldon claiming 4-21.

Seaton saw it through in 25 overs with Ryan Irving-Carr on 29 and Modussar Ali on 28, Ashley Parker taking 4-38 for the visitors.

Blagdon 1sts saw their away game at Whickham abandoned. Whickham had put on 163-9and Blagdon were 80-2 when play was halted.

Ulgham 1sts lost by 36 runs to Alnwick 2nds. Alnwick were 158-9 and Ulgham 122 all out with Roy Haygarth on 30.

Stobswood 1sts lost by 10wickets at home to Shotley Bridge. Stobswood were all out for only 54, the visitors chasing it down in 19 overs.
