Great response to Facebook post about internet safety
A Northumberland school's social media post with an important message about staying safe online has been seen by thousands of people across the world.
Activities to mark Safer Internet Day took place on the day itself and beforehand at Grange View Church of England First School in Widdrington Station.
They included into-the-screen workshops and a presentation by teacher Lauren Chapman at family worship, and the pupils in Willow class (Key Stage 2) posted a plea on the school’s Facebook page to share their message and note how many likes, shares, views and comments it would get in a week as a way of seeing how items on the internet can spread to many people.
Headteacher Louise Laskey said they were amazed to discover that it received 169,358 views, more than 2,000 shares, 845 comments and 750 likes and loves from many countries around the world, including Brazil, the USA and Australia.
Parents were asked to fill in a questionnaire about online safety issues after family worship and one of the people who did was the lucky prize draw winner (a £10 voucher for Android or Apple).
