The rally at the Monument in Newcastle.

The event was organised by the North East for Europe group, which called on the Government to guarantee the right of EU citizens in Britain to remain after Brexit.

The rally took place at the Monument and the Morpeth contingent made an Angels for Europe sign that included an Angel of the North image, with added halo, and a few stars in the style of those on the EU flag.

Bridget Gubbins, centre of the three people holding the sign in the picture, said that she has friends living in Northumberland originally from other European countries who are ‘suffering from the uncertainty of the situation’.
