FAMILIES in central and south east Northumberland were given a helping hand from health workers to lead a healthier lifestyle.

Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust’s Get Active Northumberland programme ran a week-long course during the summer holidays to encourage parents and children to be more active and eat a better diet.

It involved fun physical activities, including cycling sessions in partnership with community cycling group WATBike, cooking and learning more about healthy food and drink.
