Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust has once again been recognised at a national level for the standard of its patient care.

For the eighth consecutive year, it has been named as one of the Caspe Healthcare Knowledge Systems (CHKS) Top Hospitals – an accolade given to the country’s 40 top performing health organisations.

The award is based on the evaluation of more than 20 indicators covering clinical effectiveness, health outcomes, efficiency, patient experience and quality of care.

The trust’s chief executive, Jim Mackey, said: “It is fantastic that once again we have been named among the very best in the NHS for the care we provide to our patients across Northumberland and North Tyneside.

“Great credit must go to our hard-working teams.”

In further recognition of the trust’s services, Northumbria Healthcare was also short-listed for the CHKS patient experience award, which was held for the first time this year.
