PEOPLE have been urged to brave the cold weather and make a date to donate blood.
A session will be held at Storey Park Community Centre in Morpeth next week and NHS Blood and Transplant hopes both new and previous donors will come forward.
Lead Donor Relations Manager for the North Darren Bowen said: “Lots of people warm to the idea of giving blood, but may get put off by the cold weather around this time of the year.
“However, we can guarantee them a warm welcome and a hot cup of tea at all of our sessions, plus the satisfaction of knowing that they are helping sick and injured people in local hospitals with each and every donation they make.”
Donors can be aged between 17 and 65, with no upper age limit for those who have donated in the last two years.
They should weigh more than 50kg (7 stone 12lbs) and be in general good health.
The Morpeth session will take place on Friday, January 27, from 1.30pm to 4pm, and from 4.45pm to 7pm.
