NEARLY £1million of extra funding for social care in Northumberland has been welcomed by politicians.
The money is part of £150million announced by the Government to help shorten hospital stays during the busy winter period.
It can be used to access preventative services, such as better home care support, crisis response teams and specialist equipment.
Northumberland County Council Leader Jeff Reid, said: “This extra cash for Northumberland further shows how the Government recognises that we all prefer to be out of hospital, receiving care in our own home.”
Berwick MP Sir Alan Beith added: “By reinvesting these savings in social care we can offer more support to older people leaving hospital.”
