A NEW health chief has been appointed to lead a cluster of authorities.
Substantive Chief Executive of NHS North East Ian Dalton CBE has been confirmed as the new Chief Executive of NHS North of England.
He has been working at the Department of Health during the past year to help lead the Government’s health reforms and will take up his new post on October 3, with responsibility for NHS North East, NHS North West and NHS Yorkshire and the Humber.
The move is part of clustering arrangements for strategic health authorities. Each cluster will have a joint executive team and a single shared board of directors, but staff will continue to work out of current offices during the transition.
Mr Dalton, who will also continue as senior responsible officer for the set up of the NHS Trust Development Authority, said: “I am very pleased to take on this important role and together with other northern colleagues ensure the NHS in the north continues to deliver as we put patients at the heart of everything we do.”
