RESIDENTS in Northumberland have been invited to play a key part in shaping future health services.
The NHS Northumberland Clinical Commissioning Group is seeking local people to become lay members.
The group will take over from local primary care trusts in April and will be responsible for planning and purchasing NHS services for patients.
Chief Clinical Officer Dr Alistair Blair, who works at Wellway Medical Group in Morpeth, said: “This is an exciting opportunity for members of the local community to influence the work of the CGC in the future.
“Lay members will bring with them a range of expertise and help provide an independent view of the work of NHS Northumberland CGC.”
Posts available include Chairman and members for Resource and Performance, Public and Patient Involvement and Governance.
The Chairman position comes with remuneration of £15,000 per annum for one day a week, while the other positions offer £7,500 per annum for three half-day sessions a month.
The Governance position requires experience of financial management and audit.
The closing date for applications is noon on Friday, August 24, with interviews on September 20 and 21.
