Hygiene habits

GOOD hygiene habits could be key to flu protection, Northumberland NHS bosses have advised.

People are asked to Catch It, Bin It, Kill It to avoid the spread of viruses from coughing or sneezing.

The most effective things people can do to stop infections from spreading are to always carry tissues and cover their nose and mouth when they cough and sneeze, dispose of the tissue as soon as possible and clean their hands as soon as they can with soap and hot water or a sanitiser gel.

If anyone has flu like symptoms and is concerned, they should stay at home. Patients can check symptoms online at www.nhs.uk

If people are still concerned, they should call their GP or NHS Direct on 0845 4647.
