THE Chairman of Northumberland Care Trust will play a key role in the shake-up of local NHS services.

Jacqui Henderson has been appointed Vice Chairman of a new NHS North of Tyne board that will work across Northumberland Care Trust, Newcastle Primary Care Trust (PCT) and North Tyneside PCT.

Her new role will include helping to steer the three organisations through major change, which will result in the phasing out of primary care bodies from April 2013. She will also continue to lead the work of the single board in Northumberland.

Mrs Henderson, who lives in Ashington, has extensive leadership and management experience within the learning and skills sector and is Managing Director of Creative Leadership and Skills Strategies.

“I am very pleased to have the opportunity to play such a key role in the local NHS during a time of such major change,” she said.

“Over the next 12 months we will be transferring our responsibilities to new NHS organisations, including the clinical commissioning groups led by GPs.

“Our focus during this time will be continuing to make sure that local people receive high quality healthcare, while at the same time supporting GPs and others to take on their new responsibilities.”

The clinical commissioning groups will be tasked with making sure that local people receive the healthcare they require.
