A HEALTH trust which operates in Northumberland is bolstering its nursing ranks in time for the winter months.
A recruitment drive for more than 30 new registered nurses to work with elderly patients in hospital wards and the community has been launched by Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
Officials are also on the lookout for more than 30 healthcare assistants.
The investment means every elderly care ward across the Trust’s hospitals will have extra nursing staff on duty every day to help during busy meal times and deliver more one to one, personalised care.
The trust also has four existing opportunities for senior community-based matrons in Cramlington, Hexham, North Tyneside and Wooler, where staff will work with vulnerable elderly patients in their own homes to manage their complex health needs.
