Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust has achieved accolade success at the double.
The organisation was the winner in the acute care category of the Best Places to Work in the NHS Awards. It was chosen ahead of 40 other short-listed providers.
Using data compiled from the 2014 NHS staff survey, its efforts in areas such as leadership and planning, role satisfaction, training, development and resources and employee engagement and satisfaction were highly praised.
A day earlier, the trust was presented with a new ‘special recognition award’ at the national Patient Safety Awards 2015.
This accolade celebrates the patient-centric and compassionate approach of care delivered by health and social care teams across Northumberland and North Tyneside and recognises the multiple achievements of the health body in recent years.
Chief executive at Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, Jim Mackey, said: “Our staff are the heart of our organisation and do a simply amazing job every single day in providing safe and compassionate care for our patients.
“It is down to their commitment, passion and relentless focus on quality improvement that we have achieved two such important and prestigious national awards.
