Speculation is mounting as to the identity of three new retailers for Morpeth after a mix-up in planning images.
Dransfield Properties has submitted an application to create three new stores on the site of the former Morrisons supermarket in Stanley Terrace.
A visual impression of how the development could look has been included as part of the planning bid, showing the three retailers as Next, Pets At Home and Home Bargains.
However, the developer has said the wrong image was submitted as talks are still ongoing with potential tenants and it is not in a position to confirm any names.
Spokeswoman Amanda Holmes said: “The wrong visual has been sent. It is a speculative visual.
“When we are talking to various retailers that could be one of ten different plans we might deal with.
“This visual was sent in error. We can’t confirm any names. These are speculative names.”
The planning documents have been submitted to Northumberland County Council. A correct image, with no retailer identities, has now been sent.
