An action-packed trip to the Lake District, sailing on the Tyne and working at The Alnwick Garden '“ it's been a busy time for pupils at the town's St Michael's C of E Primary School.

The Year 6 students had an outstanding experience at High Borrans, in the Lakes, for a residential visit, where they took part in a host of activities, including mountain climbing, canoeing, tree abseiling and orienteering.

The Year 5 students were treated to a sailing trip with the Ocean Youth Trust, as part of the Junior Prince’s Award with SkillForce.

The children sailed along the river aboard the James Cook. It was a big adventure, living, eating and sleeping on the boat all together.

Recently, some of the pupils took part in The Alnwick Garden’s annual take-over day, as part of their STEM week at school. Pupils filled the roles of various departments, learning what its like to work at the attraction.

Plants and veg from the Roots and Shoots Garden were given to the school to plant.
