Jail for man with indecent images

A man has been given a prison sentence of two-and-a-half years in total for offences that included three counts of making indecent photographs of children.

Simon Thompson, 44, of Howard Grove, Pegswood, pleaded guilty to one type of category A, one type of category B and one type of category C of this offence at Newcastle Crown Court on August 24.

The sentence for the category A offence was 12 months in jail consecutive to follow a breach of suspended sentence that relates to three counts of making indecent photographs of children, to which Thompson pleaded guilty at the same court on May 10.

He was sentenced to a year imprisonment, suspended for three years, which was activated as a result of the more recent charges.

Thompson was also in breach of a sexual harm prevention order and for this, his sentence was six months in prison consecutive, resulting in a total of two-and-a-half years in custody.

The sentences for the category B and category C making indecent photographs of children offences were three months in jail concurrent and one month in jail concurrent respectively.
