With interest in finding more about your family history continuing to grow there are a number of ‘reunion’ programmes on television and a new 1939 ‘census’ is becoming available.

This has sparked the Alnwick branch of the Northumberland and Durham Family History Society to launch a series of Saturday morning training sessions in the Bailiffgate Museum.

They are designed to cater for all levels of ability from those interested in starting from scratch and to those who already know how to use basic services and want to find out more.

Starting on February 20, the first session will look at starting from scratch; session two on April 16 will look at more advance uses of the internet in research; session three is about researching family who served in the First World War and session four is for finding our more about your family home.

The sessions are free to anyone who is a member of the Northumberland and Durham Family History Society (NDFHS) and also free to friends of the museum.

For others there will be an admission charge.
