THE Herald’s most famous reader has been revealed – thanks to the efforts of a Morpeth schoolgirl.
When Laura Wilson wrote to the Queen about the Olympic Torch Relay last year, she included cuttings from the newspaper.
And the response from the Lady in Waiting at Balmoral, where the Queen was located on her summer break, mentioned how much Her Majesty enjoyed reading about the day.
The nine-year-old pointed out that she and other pupils from her school at the time, Goosehill First School, stood along the route to watch one of the Torchbearers run past.
She also wrote to her in 2011 about the school’s centenary celebrations and received a response.
Laura said: “I thought it would be good to write to the Queen about these things and I was pleased to get such nice letters back.”
