There is even more choice for children at Widdrington Library as it has launched a special collection of books thanks to a £100 prize fund.
It beat other libraries across the county in a competition to help the most local youngsters complete the Summer Reading Challenge, with completion rates rising from 79 per cent to 82 per cent.
Staff asked pupils at Grange View Church of England First School in Widdrington Station to visit the library and help choose books for the new collection.
They will be displayed as a special collection complete with commemorative bookplates to celebrate the award.
Grange View children visit regularly and the school helped the library achieve the increase in completions by promoting the challenge to pupils and parents.
All classes at the school go along to the facility for a reading session every Friday morning in term time.
