CAMERAS rolled into Morpeth recently as a new commercial was filmed.

There were strange goings-on throughout the town last week, with the weather seeming even more unpredictable than during the usual English summer.

There was brilliant sunshine in one part of the town, while a single property in Olympia Hill was drenched with a downpour, and in Kingswell there was a house covered in snow and Christmas lights.

But climate change has not quite got to that extent – the ‘weather’ was manufactured to record a Royal Mail commercial.

The crew from Amarillo Films was working on a promotion based around Steve the Postie, and all of the actors in the commercial were actually Royal Mail employees.

A mobile food servery was set up for the crew in Morrison Road, production vehicles crammed into back lanes and camera tracks were laid along paths, but as soon as the shoot was wrapped up, the clear-up began, leaving no trace of the team.
