The manager and chairman of Contact Morpeth Mental Health recently visited Coca-Cola European Partners (CCEP) in Morpeth to receive a cheque for £5,400.
This was the result of Barbara Ross, co-ordinator of the Morpeth Matters photography exhibition, and others selling calendars produced by Morpeth Matters members and sponsored by CCEP.
It is an annual event in the Town Hall showcasing beautiful and eye-catching pictures of the town and other places in the region and each year, a different local charity is chosen.
The CCEP sponsorship is organised by David Hunt and Angela Mavin.
On this particular day, customer marketing director GB Simon Harrison happened to be present to see the presentation and outlined how delighted he was to see the Morpeth branch supporting local charities. He also showed an interest in what Contact does in aid of its members.
Contact manager Audrey Anderson thanked Barbara Ross and CCEP for ‘such a wonderful amount of money as it will help to keep the charity going because funding is extremely hard to get today for core costs’.
She briefly outlined some of the activities that take place in the centre at Oldgate, which include counselling, art, talking voices, IT, photography and mindfulness, which are all free to the members.
Chairman Rhona Dunn also expressed her thanks, telling those present how valuable a service Contact gives to vulnerable people.
