Amble Coastguard and the town’s RNLI volunteers were alerted by a 999 call just before 8pm yesterday, Tuesday, November 17, reporting a man was trying to rescue a dog which had become trapped in part of the nearby North Pier.
A spokesperson for the team said: “After gaining access to the North Pier the team found the person and the dog with assistance from members of the public.

"Due to the tricky location of the dog, it was decided to get assistance from RNLI - Amble Lifeboat Station where they launched their inshore lifeboat.
"The dog and a member from the coastguard team transferred to the lifeboat before being taken ashore where the dog was reunited with its owner.”
