Man seriously injured in ladder fall

A man who was among the workers carrying out improvements to the exterior of a church in Morpeth was flown to hospital yesterday morning after falling about 10ft from a ladder.

The Great North Air Ambulance Service was called at 9.21am following the incident at St Robert’s Church in Oldgate and one of its helicopters landed in the St Robert’s school field.

Its doctor-led trauma team treated the man, believed to be aged 51, for a chest injury before he was transported to the RVI in Newcastle. He arrived in a serious but stable condition.
