A garden centre has donated real Christmas trees to two schools in Northumberland.

To celebrate the launch of its Real Christmas Tree Weekend events, Heighley Gate Garden Centre donated trees to both Amble Links and Amble first schools.

Centre manager Adrian Drake said: “At this time of year, we are delighted to be able to support schools within the local community and we really enjoyed picking the tree with the children. It was lovely to see the excitement on their faces.

“Choosing the perfect Christmas tree can be a tricky task, but we have a variety of experts on hand in centre to help our customers pick the right one for them.

“We can also offer top tips on caring for the tree to make sure it lasts right through to Christmas Day and beyond.”

Amble Links headteacher Paul Heeley said: “I am hugely grateful for the Christmas tree donation that Heighley Gate Garden Centre has given to the school.

“Our Christmas Craft Evening has become part of the DNA of our school and having a lovely real tree to decorate for the event is a fantastic way to mark the coming of Christmas for children and parents.”

The centre will be will be holding a Real Tree Weekend on Saturday and Sunday, where customers can choose their tree while enjoying a free hot chocolate.

There will also be a free elf hunt around the centre for the little ones.
