Morpeth Town are into the semi-finals of the FA Vase for the first time in the club's history after a 2-0 win over Bristol Manor Farm this afternoon.
At Craik Park, the hosts went 1-0 up as veteran defender Chris Swailes scored after 12 minutes. They had chances to go further ahead before Manor Farm started to get back into the game. Fortunately they held on and a late Dale Pearson goal secured a historic victory.
The Highway Men know they have a glorious chance of going on to reach the final at Wembley, as Monday’s semi-final draw paired favourites Hereford and Salisbury, with Morpeth now going on to face Bowers & Pitsea, who beat Kidlington 4-0 in a replay this afternoon.
Town, who are trying to reach the semi-finals for the first time in their history, are currently lying third in the bookies' rankings, with Hereford and Salisbury ahead of them. The semi-finals are two-legged, with ties due to be played on Saturdays, March 12 and 19.
Morpeth's quarter-final clash had been scheduled for last Saturday, but was postponed after the surface was deemed unplayable on the Friday night.
