Multiple sclerosis branches join forces

Two area groups of a national charity have come together in an effort to do more for people with multiple sclerosis (MS).

Following discussions between the Hexham and District branch and the South East Northumberland branch of the MS Society, it has been agreed to combine their work.

The current services, including the monthly social events at St James’ Community Centre in Morpeth and the gym activities every Monday at Wentworth Leisure Centre in Hexham, are continuing.

The volunteers already in place are committed to carrying on the good work that the two branches did and they also want to expand through offering exercise groups across the patch as well as host more information events and socials.

John Sanderson, chair of the newly formed South Northumberland branch, said it is “on the lookout for volunteers to help make our ideas a reality”.
