New car charity prize draw win results in a Pudsey surprise for Simon

A Morpeth resident was surprised on his own doorstep with the grand prize of a £25,000 voucher for a new car after entering a prize draw in aid of Children in Need.

Simon Clements, right in picture, took part in the Lookers prize draw at Lookers Nissan Gateshead as a way of supporting the dealership’s fund-raising efforts for the charity, only to be completely stunned when representatives of the group, along with Pudsey, surprised him at his home.

The train driver for a freight company entered the draw by donating to the charity when he purchased his last car.

He is now looking forward to revisiting the dealership with his wife Imelda – she will be using the new vehicle.

Simon said: “I’ve always admired Children in Need and have always donated every year during the TV appeal.

“I never thought for a moment that I would win the prize draw, so to be presented with a voucher for a new car right here on my doorstep absolutely blew me away.

“Thank you so much to everyone at Lookers and Children in Need.”

The prize is one of two cars that Lookers is giving away, with the second winner soon to be surprised by one of the group’s 154 nationwide dealerships.

The prize draws form part of a huge fund-raising effort at Lookers, with the group pledging to raise £600,000 for Children in Need.

Fund-raising is continuing thanks to customer donations and a number of planned events.

Chris Bennett, sales manager at Lookers Nissan, said: “I would like to congratulate Simon for being chosen as the lucky winner of our prize draw.

“I’m sure when he woke up this morning, he wasn’t expecting to be opening his door to a £25,000 voucher.

“To be able to do this as part of our support for Children in Need made the moment all that more special as it’s a charity that has become an important part of our fund-raising activities over the past year.”
