A NEW town guide could be produced for Morpeth to detail its attractions and businesses.
Morpeth Town Council will discuss the idea with the Morpeth and District Chamber of Trade and Greater Morpeth Development Trust to find out if a co-ordinated plan can be put together.
The action comes after the authority was approached by a business in Kent offering to produce a guide funded solely by advertising revenue.
Members of the Finance and General Purposes Committee were impressed with the proposal, but they said they would prefer local businesses or community groups to be involved.
Coun Les Cassie said: “This should be a collaborative effort, but this approach looks pretty attractive as a means of executing it. At first sight it seems an excellent deal and a better one than most plans I have seen.”
The council will find out if other organisations are working to produce a guide before deciding the next steps.
