New treasurer for RAFA Club

On Wednesday, March 11, the 68th Morpeth RAFA AGM took place.

At 6pm committee members descended on the RAFA Club to thrash out, debate and discuss both branch and club talk.

Amongst the Executive Board present were both Branch and Club Chairmen, President, Secretary, Treasurer, RAFALO’s and their deputies.

The Branch Chairman Mr Doug Harrison welcomed all and thanked the committee for yet another successful year, and thanked all committee members for their hard work and dedication.

Significant changes in the Branch were the newly appointed Treasurer Cpl Neil Brewer, Deputy Sgt Jordene Spink, and Standard Bearer FS Mark Roberts, all serving members of the RAF based at nearby Boulmer.

Special mentions for Mr Tony Payne in the organisation of a charity walk up Simonside Crag, Mrs Mel Conroy for her superb efforts throughout the year for the Wings Appeal charity, and Mrs Brenda Ramsden for her continuous unselfish work at the front of house, should be highlighted.

On completion of Mr Harrison’s warming tribute was the welcome from Club Chairman Mr Alan Stoker.

Mr Stoker reiterated the Branch Chairman’s words for the committee and gave some humbling words for the outgoing Branch and Club Treasurer Mr Ian Stoker.

Mr Stoker has been the Treasurer for the past seven years and the committee members would like to thank him for his extremely hard work and all he has done for Morpeth RAFA during this time in post.

Changes to the Executive Board for Club also mirror Branch appointments.

Big news for the club and upcoming year is the inclusion of two darts teams into next season’s league for both males and females.

Finally, the next charity event taking place on Friday, May 22 is a darts tournament, ‘Morpeth Players Championship’, organised by FS Mark Roberts and Cpl Neil Brewer. After approximately 80 minutes the 68th AGM was drawn to a conclusion with members the bar.

For any queries about the RAFA charity, events or how to become a member, or if you just fancy a drink, please do not hesitate to pop into the club and ask a member of staff.
