No underground culvert repair works are required at the Middle Greens allotments in Morpeth.
Plot holders had informed representatives of Northumberland County Council and the Environment Agency that part of the structure was blocked and this was causing flooding problems for an area of the site.
Morpeth Town Council was informed as it has responsibility for the section of culvert at Middle Greens (the section under the road is the responsibility of the county council) and members agreed that clearing works should be carried out.
They have taken place and at a meeting of the town council’s property and asset management committee, chairman Andrew Tebbutt said he had been informed by Trevor Dixon (the unitary authority’s flood protection manager) that the relevant part of the culvert is now completely clear and it had not suffered any damage.
Other issues identified by Coun Tebbutt when he visited the site will be discussed with members of the Middle Greens Allotment Association in due course.
