Northumberland Tourism Awards: Making a splash with sponsorship

The water supplier for the North East is heavily involved in tourism in the county, not least through Kielder Water, and is getting behind our celebration of our best tourism businesses.

David Hall, head of leisure at Northumbrian Water, said: “Northumbrian Water is an avid supporter of tourism in the region because it contributes so much to the regional economy.

“As an operator in the leisure market, we understand how important that sector is.

“We want to celebrate the successes of tourism businesses in Northumberland and showcase everything that’s great about the county.

“We are delighted to sponsor the first Northumberland Tourism Awards.”

The awards were launched last month by Northeast Press’ four county titles – Berwick Advertiser, Morpeth Herald, News Post Leader and the Northumberland Gazette, in association with Northumberland Tourism, the county’s destination management organisation. The ceremony is on Thursday, June 22.

The deadline for entries to the awards, following a change after the awards were put back a fortnight because of a clash with the General Election, is today.

Entry forms, which can be downloaded from here – tinyurl.com/kk7c2zw – must be returned to [email protected] with the subject Northumberland Tourism Awards.

The award categories mirror those of the regional awards: Boutique Accommodation/Small Hotel; Bed and Breakfast; Dog Friendly Business; Holiday Park; Hotel; Inclusive Tourism; Large Visitor Attraction; Self-Catering Property; Small Visitor Attraction; Sustainable Tourism Award; Taste Award; Tourism Pub of the Year.

Winners will be automatically entered into the regional awards.

Additionally, there will be prizes at our event for the best Wedding Venue, Family Day Out (public vote) and an overall prize.
