Number’s up for community cash

THE numbers have come up for community projects in Northumberland as they collect lottery grants.

The Big Lottery Fund’s Awards for All programme has recently announced funding of £303,000 to be split between 39 groups across the North East.

And included in the list is Bad Apples North East, which provides entertainment, education and employment opportunities for young people in Northumberland.

The group, which has held sessions in Morpeth, was awarded £9,986 to buy new DJ equipment and enable it to take sessions on the road to schools, hospitals and community centres.

Also benefiting was Northumbria Youth, which received £9,636 to deliver training sessions for people involved in the youth work sector.

Big Lottery Fund Head of Region James Turner said: “It’s brilliant to see the wide range of projects that groups in our region are planning with grants from Awards for All.”
