Organ offer fails to gain approval

Morpeth Town Council has turned down the chance to put an organ in St James’ Community Centre.

The authority was asked to donate the piano-sized instrument for the building by the Christadelphians – a Christian group.

But members voted against the offer. Their concerns included the council having to foot the bill if it was damaged, it would reduce the space available in the centre and no other groups would want to use the organ.
