CHILDREN’S services at the county council have been given the thumbs up after they were rated as exceeding the minimum requirements by Ofsted.
The Ofsted report grades services from one to four and Northumberland County Council was awarded three, meaning it ‘performs well’.
However, there were key areas for development, including to improve educational outcomes for children with special educational needs and those from low income families and to improve overall results at age 11.
Executive Member for Children and Young People Lesley Rickerby said: “If they gave us the money we are entitled to, we could do an even better job.
“Give us the money we deserve.”
