Oxfam ambassador talks about charity’s work in Liberia

Multiple Sclerosis Society South Northumberland branch

At our most recent meeting, our guest speaker was Emma Scott, who gave us a very informative talk about her visit to Liberia as an ambassador for Oxfam.

This visit took place just before the ebola outbreak in that country.

Emma gave a visual presentation so vivid it almost took us all to Africa.

In some areas, there is no water or sanitation, no education and women appear to carry out most of the work.

This presentation made us so thankful for our own lives and determined to help in any way we could.

Emma has bungee-jumped to fund-raise for Oxfam and completed other fund-raising activities.

It was also outlined to us how the money is apportioned by Oxfam to different projects.

A vote of thanks was given by our Chairman, Jackie Scott, and we all left the hall more informed and grateful.

The South Northumber-land MS Society branch exists to reach out to those suffering from MS and their families and friends in this area, and to help with information or grants.
