A milestone birthday for Leslie
There was a family bubble celebration at the home of a Morpeth resident for his 100th birthday last Thursday, March 11.
Leslie Robson, who has lived in the town centre with his wife Margaret for about 20 years, was an aircraft engineer in the Second World War – working all over the world, particularly in India.
He and Margaret married in 1952 and had two children, Barry and Hilary. They now have four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Leslie had a newsagent shop in Bedlington Station for all of his working life. He took over Robson’s Newsagency from his father.
His daughter-in-law, Jill Robson, said: “We hope that if the Covid-19 situation continues to improve and there are no restrictions later this year, Leslie will be able to meet his great-granddaughter, Joni, for the first time.”
