Claire Young Dance Academy (CDA) was established in September 2011. Starting in a village hall, there were classes delivering ballet and tap and jazz, then street dance classes were added.

Principal Claire Young, who grew up and danced in Morpeth herself, relocated the school to Coopies Lane and further classes were put on the timetable – including commercial, lyrical, stretch, acro and musical theatre.

In November, CDA made its latest move as she wanted to be in a central Morpeth location and classes now take place at 22 to 24 Bridge Street.

Students take part in dance shows and performances, competitions and examinations, and there are opportunities to work with professional dancers through workshops it hosts, which dancers from all dance schools are invited to, and other workshops CDA attends.

Claire said: “We pride ourselves on our relaxed and calm atmosphere, developing confidence in young children and a passion for dance whilst teaching them safety and technique, performance and discipline, but most of all the fun they have.

“We see ourselves as one big family and none of this would have been possible without the support of my amazing team.”

The open day is on Sunday, February 9, from 1pm to 3pm. For more information about CDA, including contact details, go to www.clairesdanceacademy.com
