Litter group blitz and new pickers for pupils
Various items of rubbish were recently collected by a team of six from Morpeth Litter Group as part of its STREET BLITZ initiative.
The litter picked up around the roads and lanes in the Bothal Sawmill area during the two-hour slot included 15 bags, four tyres, plenty of car bits, remains of DIY, a fireguard and a very old gas container.
Morpeth Litter Group is also pleased to report that a group of avid litter pickers from St Robert's First Sch-ool in Oldgate are helping the clean-up effort and they have been presented with 15 new 60cm litter pickers, funded by a donation from the Greater Morpeth Development Trust.
The school team will pick up litter in Carlisle Park once a week every Friday.
