Stella Ackroyd is delighted to have her work featured in Laine, a Nordic knit and lifestyle magazine.

“I was thrilled when the team at Laine decided to include my design in this summer’s collection,” she said. “Their photography and styling is always amazing and I am proud to have my design featured in this beautiful collection.”

Stella, from the Morpeth area, started her own business in 2003. ‘SEA Knitting’ was initially focused on editing patterns for other designers, but recent years have seen Stella successfully branch out into creating her own designs and also producing her own yarn.

Many of Stella’s designs take direct inspiration from the Northumbrian countryside, and some are even named after local landmarks such as Cragside, Linhope Spout and Low Newton.

Stella’s latest design, ‘Visiting’, caught the eye of Sini Kramer, producer and co-founder of Laine, who was determined to include it in the next publication.

“Stella got in touch with us last November when we had already picked the designs for Issue 11,” she explained. “However, the moment we saw her design, we knew we had to include it in our summer issue.”

The garment comes in two versions – a cardigan and a sweater and Sini fell in love with the classic look and feel of the design.

According to Sini, Laine receive between 300-600 design ideas for each issue.
