Alison Parker, Jacinta Manship, Sean Taylor, Ellen Logan, Claire Lawson, Aileen Lambie, Ed Hillier and Zoe Eke have received plenty of support in advance as hundreds of pounds have already been donated.

The money raised will go towards extending the current headquarters provision on Staithes Lane.

Ellen said: “Our Scout Group has grown dramatically over the last 10 years.

“We are now desperately in need of additional HQ space so we can continue to deliver a wide range of indoor activities to our 250-plus Beavers, Cubs and Scouts and increase our storage capacity for kit and equipment.

“We have ambitious plans to extend our current HQ provision and as our regular indoor based fund-raising activities (coffee mornings, bag packs and Christmas post) have taken a bit of a battering from Covid-19, to try and generate some much needed funds we are heading to the great outdoors.

“Each team member runs one leg, distances vary from 12 to 17 miles, with the whole team running the last leg, nine miles, together.

“We’ve asked the members of our group to run with us ‘virtually’ in some way and each section has set a running challenge in the weeks leading up to our run to help raise funds.”
