Wilmer was then invited onto Monday’s The One Show episode on BBC One with the four other category winners.

He showed his produce to the Hairy Bikers and presenter Matt Baker.

Wilmer only started selling his coffee at markets in January, including the weekly Morpeth market and the monthly farmers’ market in the town.

He imports green beans directly from Honduran farms and roasts and packages them in Morpeth.

He has received great interest online, but wanted to start selling at markets so he could talk to his customers about the quality and approach of his coffee.

It also meant that he could sell plastic free from refillable jars, as this is something he is very passionate about.

Wilmer moved to the UK in 2017 to be with his wife and son who had moved back earlier that year to be with family when their son was diagnosed with a rare genetic illness.

On the company’s website, he says he hopes in time to set-up a charity to support the families of children with disabilities.
