Two Ponteland High School students had their achievements in physics celebrated during a ceremony at Northumbria University.
Hannah Tumia and Harley Rowe-Maguire received a certificate and vouchers at the North East Schools Young Physicists of the Year Awards.
These annual awards are funded by the Ogden Trust and designed to recognise the very best Year 10 students in the subject across the region.
The nominations were decided during a science departmental meeting in a discussion of all physics teachers.
The information for them includes the following: ‘Harley is an outstanding young physicist. As well as participating in the science show, he encourages younger students to appreciate the subject.’
‘Hannah has achieved excellent progress this year in physics and she has shown her dedication and enthusiasm for the subject by completing extra work outside of the classroom.’
