Police are appealing for witnesses after a collision involving two cars in Newbiggin by the Sea.

The driver of one of the cars, a man in his 20s, was taken to hospital with a broken ankle after the accident between a Toyota Celica and a Vauxhall Corsa on the B1334 Newbiggin Road at the junction with Sandy Bay Caravan Park, North Seaton, at 7.14pm yesterday.

The driver of the Toyota did not remain at the scene and it is believed that he or she was driven away in a dark coloured Ford Focus. Police want to speak with anyone who may have information to identify the driver of the Toyota Celica and the Ford Focus.

Inquiries into the collision are on-going and any witnesses or anyone who has information to help is asked to contact police.on 101 quoting reference 0995 08/01/15.
